At Monday’s special meeting, council passed a motion giving Kimberly Clark access to municipal water thru one of the towns fire hydrants in an emergency basis should the facility run out of water. Last month’s drought brought the plant to within a couple of weeks of having to possibly shut down because of dropping water levels in the Big East River, where the plant draws its water from.
Mayor Claude Doughty explained that the Town of Huntsville and the District of Muskoka worked together to find an alternative source since Kimberly Clark is not connected to municipal water supplies.
