Council committed to spend up to $100,000 a year for 5 years to help bring Ironman Canada to Huntsville in 2013. Rich Trenholm and Kyra Watters were before council yesterday to advise the town about an incredible opportunity bring the national race – which has been in Penticton for the last 30 years – to Huntsville. Trenholm said that if successful, Huntsville would be the only place in the world to host the 5150, the Ironman 70.3 and Ironman Canada in the same area at the same time.
And he quoted some impressive numbers of the economic impact bring just the Ironman Canada to Huntsville, estimated to be at $12.5million at Pinticton and $20million at Mt Tremlblant.
Trenholm advised council that $50,000 would come back to the town in the way of infrastructure and road upgrades if they are successful.
