Kearney Council Calls For Removal of Mayor

The Council of the town of Kearney are demanding the resignation of Mayor Paul Tomlinson, but the reason for demand has not been made public. In a story in the Toronto Star, Mayor Tomlinson refuses to comment on the situation, calling it “Kearney politics as its best”

The transgression by Tomlinson allegedly has to do with the violation of town’s harassment policies. One councillor has taken the step of seeking legal advice to determine what the next steps would be.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs said that any move to remove a sitting mayor must be made by a judge and not members of council.
