Parry Sound-Muskoka MP, Tony Clement held a meeting last week with representatives of the Georgian Bay Association and other high level ministers to discuss issues around low water levels on Georgian Bay and the Great Lakes.
Clement said that he had seen how the low water levels are affecting the local economy and the enjoyment of Georgian Bay and the surrounding area and was pleased to meet the Georgian Bay Association representatives in Ottawa to discuss how they can work together to address the issues that have implications on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border.
Members of the Georgian Bay Association said that they were pleased to have the opportunity to brief Ministers Clement, Kent and Baird on the water levels crisis that is plaguing the Middle Great Lakes, including Georgian Bay.
Clement said he remains committed to working with the Georgian Bay Association and all stakeholders to examine the best courses of action going forward.
