Tomorrow afternoon a group of shoppers will be mobbing a downtown store in an event called the Muskoka Cash Mob. The event, facilitated by HBR is geared to bring awareness to the fact that small business is the backbone of the community and $58 of every $100 purchase stays in the community in the way of jobs and investment in the community – almost double the amount that stays in town when the same amount is spent in a big box store.
The mobbers will be meeting at Main & Brunel at noon, with a commitment to spend $20 at a yet to be disclosed store. After a success shop, the group meets at a local watering hole for the Aftermob party. The event is designed to inject some economic stimulus into the backbone of the community.
