A new memorial is being built at memorial park and Mayor Claude Doughty says that he has been promised that the work will be done in time for Remembrance Day.

The memorial, came out of discussions and the controversy about the initial proposed location of the U of W building which was opposed by many of the town.   Since that time, the town has secured grant money to help build a memorial to the soldiers that lost their lives in the great wars.

The land was given to the town with the understanding that it would remain parkland in memory of Huntsville Veterans.
