Doughty & Mackenzie Differ on Termination Payouts

Mayor Claude Doughty dismissed accusations of a shakeup being underway at town hall.  In an exclusive interview with HBR, Doughty said that there is no plan to clean out town hall employees.  He also questioned the math of former mayor Hugh Mackenzie who alleges in a letter to the editor that stated that the termination of 20 employees in the last 6 years was more likely to be in the $2million range, rather than the town’s reported number of $1.1 million.

Doughty pointed out that 9 of the terminations were done in the last  budget and reported by the town in a Freedom of Information request and the amounts were included in $1.1 million dollars.
