Utterson Man Charged After Near Lion Escape

Utterson Man Charged After Near Lion Escape

An Utterson man has been charged after his lion attempted to escape its enclosure. The Ontario SPCA says the man has been charged with failing to provide a pen or other enclosed structure or area for wildlife kept in captivity.  Officials found that the animal was being kept in substandard housing, noting that the animal has been rehoused in a safer environment.

The Lion owners name has not been released.  The Twp of Muskoka Lakes is working on a new exotic animal bylaw which would govern the ownership of such animals.
